Chairmans Report June 2010
You will note that our newsletter is now published under the new LOCA banner (Lake Okareka Community Association Inc) replacing LORRA that I understand was registered back in 1971.
Newsletters/subs.
In past years, the Newsletter has been supplied to all residents and ratepayers regardless of whether they were financial members of the Association. After a review of Newsletter costs and revenue from subs and advertising, the decision has been made to send the next two issues of the newsletter (Sept & Dec) only to financial members of LOCA. Therefore if you are interested in receiving the Newsletter, please ensure you are a financial member of LOCA.
Sewerage.
RDC engineers report few unexpected problems have been encountered with the construction contract and work is on schedule for completion in October. Some properties have more than one septic tank and RDC have confirmed these are all included in the contract for connection to the grinder pump at no additional cost to the property owner. RDC have been asked to confirm financial details and payment options ASAP, so we can budget accordingly. The newsletter cover photo shows all the guys who were working at Okareka on Friday 4th June.
How many do you recognise?
Kid’s cycle/mountain bike track.
For a number of years, we have been keen to find an off road areain the catchment suitable for a cycle track for all the budding mountain bikers at Okareka. There is a lot of support for this project and we welcome any suggestions from residents.
LOCA Meetings.
We now hold our committee meetings at the Hall every 6 weeks and these are always open to residents to attend (You will also get a cup of tea!!). The next meeting is scheduled for July 6 at 7.30pm and if you have any issues you would like to discuss with the committee, please contact Sandra or myself.
