Happy School Days.
A special thank you to Jeremy and Kathy Maling and John and Amanda Hamill- Okeefe, for their very kind gift of new sand for the sand pit last term. The children are really enjoying the full sandpit which is so popular all year round.
This term one of our goals is developing communication skills, and how we can help your child to become a better listener and speaker.
Te Whaariki Communication goal 2
Children develop verbal skills of communication, and development of repetitive sounds, rhymes and language.
Our daily programme provides great opportunities to be a speaker and a listener.
Mat times are great times for encouraging listening, identifying cues such as hands up and following instructions.
We are also developing children’s interests and understandings of the natural world, particularly insects and creatures that we have been discovering. We are developing our understanding of a habitat, where do things live, what do they need and learning more about them too.
Children are developing their understanding of where and how to source information. We have had bug discoveries, researched differences of moth and butterfly and much more.
Songs of the Sea Show by Capital E in Term 2
We are now booked in to take children to see this show on Monday 9th May, the second week of Term two.
Friday 11th March Social and Bike week
Social at Preschool was lots of fun, we had a BBQ and the children enjoyed their bikes. This opportunity was a great event to welcome new families and this time the Social profits went towards the Relief Fund for Christchurch.
Well done everyone, this was a great evening.
Student Teachers coming to Preschool
We have been fortunate to have two Student teachers studying to achieve their Early Childhood Teaching Qualifications come to Preschool for their teaching practicum this term. This is a great learning experience for students and provides a great opportunity to promote Preschool to the wider community.
Lake Okareka Fishing Competition
The competition went ahead the first weekend of term and we thank those who organized and supported this fundraising event within the community.
Lake Okareka Neighourhood Do/ Fundraiser
A reminder has been sent out to all Preschool families of this event next Saturday night.
Education Review Report
Last term ERO personnel visited Preschool and now we have our confirmed report. We are very pleased with our report which can be read at Preschool or on ERO’s website in two weeks time.
School holidays
We break up this term on Friday 15th April and begin term 3 on Monday 2nd May
Car seats keep children safe.
Buckle children in to their own safety approved car seats and ensure your safe journey.
Preschool promote car seat use, as even on those small trips children are required to be safe in a NZ Safety approved car seat.
We have two safety approved car seats available for parents /whanau if you are ever caught out.
