2017/2018 Annual Subscription Due 1st October 2017

The subscription is a family sub for the year from 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018 and
remains at $100. New members are always welcome.

Payment is requested into the Clubs’ Westpac A/c 03–1552–0130369–00. Reference “Sub”
family name. Please e-mail confirmation of deposit to craig@spurdle.nz

A combination lock will again be used and paid up members will be advised of the combination at the Friday coaching sessions. If you are not attending please contact Craig Kilmister so that the combination can be confirmed. The combination lock to the court will be changed from 30th October 2017.
Spring Coaching For Children
Coaching for children starts Friday afternoon 27th October and runs for eight weeks. The
proposed sessions are as follows:
Session 1
Session 2 
Session 3 
4 pm to 4:30 pm
4.35 pm to 5:35 pm approx
Approx 5.45 pm to 7.00 pm
for players up to 7 years
​for players up to 9 years
​for 10 years and over
​Please register your interest ASAP by advising the names and ages of children and indicate
which session they are likely to attend. The coach may move a child into another session
depending on ability.

The cost is $40 per child for session 1. For sessions 2 & 3 the cost is $50 per child.
Please pay the sub for coaching separately from the annual sub & put the name of your
child as a reference.

This will include installing a built in BBQ for all members to use at their leisure.

By Friday 7th October could you please register your interest by advising the names and ages of children and indicate which session they are likely to attend. The coach may move a child into another session depending on ability.

The cost is $40 per child for session 1. For sessions 2 and 3 the cost is $50 per child. If numbers need to be limited it will be on a first come first served basis. 

Please pay the sub for coaching separately from the sub and put name of child as reference.

AGM:
This is scheduled for 28th October at 5.30pm. Nominations for the Committee are invited.

Weekly Tennis:
Casual adult tennis starts on Wednesday 12th October from 6.00 pm. New players welcome.

The Club winds down over the winter months. Coaching for children starts again in October for the spring eight week session. This is a great opportunity for new people to Okareka to integrate their children and meet the locals. The season at our Club starts in October.

Family subs remain as being $100 until October.

Longstanding Treasurer Resigns
Our longstanding treasurer Hongli Qiu has resigned after over 14 years in the position. The Club expresses its gratitude for the efforts and professionalism over this period. During this time the Club resurrected the courts to a very high standard and a massive growth in Club membership.

Session 3: Approx 5.45pm to 7.00pm for 10 years and over

Coaching for children this spring season was again successful although the numbers attending were down on recent years. The autumn season gets under way in the first term of the school year in 2016

HOTSHOTS – Advanced Coaching:
The Australian Tennis HotShots Program was first launched 7 years ago in Australia. Designed by leading tennis experts and sports scientists it uses modified balls, courts and equipment suitable for children making it easy for them to achieve success on the tennis court.

The Australian Tennis HotShots program is highly acclaimed and has been adopted by many international federations, including New Zealand Tennis. Each program is written and designed individually by our head coach who is HotShots trained and certified.

This programme is being run at your Club. The current session finishes in the last week of March. The next session will commence on about 21 April. If you want an ability boost to play, then the Hotshots programme is where you can do it. Register your interest for the April session.

Autumn coaching for children:
The Coaching for children now finishes on 27 March. The weather has not been kind and at least one Sunday catch-up session is planned. This could be in the form of a competition. The cost for the seven weeks has been set at $40 per child and payment is due now.

Club House Alterations
The Club House is to be extended. You can see the proposed extension on the LOCA site www.lakeokareka.org/tennis-club. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Adult Coaching:
Adult coaching and “Tennis for Exercise” runs on a Tuesday evening. Contact Henry 021 627 013 or lakestennis@outlook.com to make a booking. Get a regular group together and stay fit though the winter.
