Hotshots Junior Tennis Coaching Program

HotShots Red Stage: Ages 4 to 8 - Tuesday 4.00-5.00pm
The HotShots Red program is a fun-filled and socially interactive class that is suitable for younger children – between the ages of 4 and 8 years old. Kids will be in small groups with others of similar age and ability, with emphasis on incidental learning within a fun filled game-based environment. The children will be learning Fundamental Perceptual Motor Skills (FPMS) as well as basic stroke production and movement. My approach incorporates learning techniques and coaching strategies adopted from the Tennis Australia's HotShots program as well as from international academies in Australia, Germany and the USTA's ‘ten-and-under’ tennis program. We make full use of a wide range of sports gear and size adjusted tennis equipment to create fun and exiting games in which the kids are fully engaged for the entire 60 minutes, growing their FPMS in a tennis specific context. It provides the children with the solid foundation they need to be able to move on to the next stage of their development.

HotShots Orange Stage: Ages 7 to 11 - Tuesday 5.00-6.00pm
These small groups are the next step up from HotShots Red program. From here players progress to HotShots Green or Performance Squad training. Players in this group are getting more proficient at moving and controlling the ball in the court and will start getting involved in match play at the club and as well as in regional age group tournaments. Making use of a range of sports gear kids learn incidentally and improve by playing fun games, each designed to teach and develop skills specific to tennis. The kids also learn vital skills and technique directly, through hitting lots of balls in drills and playing points. During the term we will cover all aspects of tennis, including footwork, technique, basic strategy, rules and match play in 60 minute sessions.

HotShots Green Stage/ Performance Development Squad: Ages 8 to 13 - Tuesday 6.00-7.00pm
The Green level is the final stage of the HotShots Tennis Program. Players are proficient at all the different tennis stokes and movement around the court. They are now entering tournaments and playing for their school tennis teams and club. The main focus is to correctly hit as many tennis balls as possible in competitive game based situation. Sessions will incorporate fitness with competitive situations and technical advice. Groups are limited to 5 players per coach, and the duration of these sessions 60 minutes.
