The Lake Okareka Fishing Club’s winter Tournament was our best ever with 93 entries and 88 fish weighed in. Our sincere congratulations to Campbell Ware (novice fisherman) who caught the largest recorded trout (known to Lake Okareka Fishing Club) in Lake Okareka. At 5.2kg (11.46lbs) this is truly a trophy catch and well deserving of the taxidermy treatment!! The achievement was reported in both the Daily Post and Waikato Times.
Campbell’s catch presents a new challenge to all anglers for the summer competition - dates for this will be advised in the December 2014 newsletter.
Many thanks to VIP Realty (Dave Umbers) for sponsoring this tournament and also to Telfer Marine (Sean Bowyer) and NZ Fishing.com (Doug Stevens) for supplying prizes. Also thanks to our weigh masters John Herbert, Jeremy Cox and Eben Herbert.
