2013 has started well with Controlled Substances Licences being renewed and another 10 people in the Rotorua area completing a course to acquire their licences. All funding was from Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Several volunteers have attended a first aid course provided by the Department of Conservation.
New updated maps are completed, showing the changes to bait station numbers
and realignments to some lines and tracks.
A preliminary trial indicates the presence of bats in the area. Expert assistance is being arranged to determine if they are present, and if so, to help with a survey.
The Bird Count survey done in November has shown an increase in both the species and numbers of birds present in the area. The survey will be repeated for the next few years.
The Mistletoe and Nature walks have been checked each month by those on the roster.
This project would not happen without our volunteers. Thank you to all who have been involved last year and we look forward to another successful pest control year in 2013.

Fri Nov 15th and Sun Nov 17th - remove prefeed strikers and replace with Feratox strikers.
Sunday Dec 8 & Mon Dec 9 - clear all stations.
Sat Dec 14 to Dec 21 - monitoring
