This term we have farewelled Asher Mendel with Mum and Dad Fiona and Rui along with Neveah and Mum and Dad Kara and Robert.  At the end of this term we farewell Theo Maling and Joseph Carter who also graduate to school.  Big thanks to Kathy and Jeremy Maling and Sarah and Jeff Carter.

Thank you to all these families for their support.  Welcome to our year three student Janette McKnight who will be with us until the end of this term.

Preschool new signs

We now have some new signs informing everyone of the non smoking policy relating to the outdoor playground.  Another one reminds the community that dogs are not permitted in public playgrounds.  We are also delighted to now have our Preschool sign with our new logo which was developed by some of the children who attended Preschool.  Special thanks to those children, Harry Cheesman, Isobel Williams and Trelise Howard.

Recycle cardboard and paper

We need your support to continue with the recycle bin we have at Preschool.  Please recycle clean paper and cardboard before the Monday afternoon pick up.  Preschool benefits financially with this recycling and it is an easy way to generate extra funds for our children.  Thanks for reducing the carbon footprint and supporting Preschool.

Educational programme

Thank you to Jeff and Sarah Carter for the improved pump bike track.  The children are really enjoying a new degree of challenge and success exploring the track.

Our programme has begun with the children’s developing interests such as snowboarding, pet rocks and paint techniques.  They have activities enjoying the snowboard and ski clothing, and with great imagination experienced snowboarding at Preschool.  New paint easels have been popular as little artists enjoy mixing colours and more.  The experience of painting on canvas has been popular thanks to Nic Bennett for supporting this experience.

We are visiting the Recycle Centre to find out more about recycling and more.  On Tuesday 18 September we are having a shared lunch followed by visiting children’s song writer Levity Beet who will perform for the children demonstrating his musical talents with musical instruments too.  This afternoon is open to all visitors—please come and join us at 1.30pm, gold coin koha.

New Zealand Shake Out

Preschool is taking part in the National Earthquake Drill on September 26th at 9.26am.  See the website (www.getthru.govt.nz) for updates on what is happening nationally to promote earthquake drills.

Drop Cover Hold

The children regularly practice both fire and earthquake drills. If you are a visitor to Preschool we ask that you sign the visitor’s book as part of our emergency procedures.
