Hello there Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters

First of all thank you to the Landcare Okareka volunteers who came and helped with the planting working bee at the Lake Okareka Hall last month. The gardens around the Hall building look really smart - well done!

This Month's Working Bee - Saturday 25th June 2016 from 9 am to 12 noon
Where: Planting the first section along the new walking track from Boyes beach end.
PLEASE park in the Boyes beach car park and walk across the reserve towards the Te Waiariki Purea Trust recreation shed.

What to Bring: Suitable warm clothing, wet weather gear - as it looks like we could get rain, suitable footwear - (gumboots if wet), gardening gloves. Spade for planting. There will be a range of tasks to perform, suitable for all ages and abilities. Children can come to help with this working bee, but they will need to be under the supervision of a parent or guardian. There will be a Health and Safety briefing at around 9 am and you will need to sign in. Working Bee will still be held if it rains.

Morning tea and drinking water will be provided.
Looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday.

Kind regards
Sandra Goodwin

Hi everyone,

Thank you to everyone who came to help with the last Lake Okareka Walking Track Working Bee.

The next Working Bee for the Lake Okareka Walking Track is scheduled for this coming Saturday 11th June 2016 - weather permitting! This will again be doing more track benching work and some tree / weed pruning. There is also more preparation to be done of the ground under where the gravel will go along the beach.

Sorry - this work will not be suitable for young children / family groups this time - but there will be Landcare Okareka plantings along the new track later in the month and over the winter months - I will let everyone know when they will be on.

WHEN: Saturday 11th June 2016, Health & Safety briefing and sign in at 9 am outside the Te Waiariki paddle shed - NB: please park in Boyes beach car park and walk across Boyes beach to new track.

WHAT TO BRING: suitable warm clothing, strong footwear, gloves.
Please bring if you have any of these: wheel barrow, shovel, spade, loppers / pruning saw, rake.
Bring your own drink and a snack for morning tea.

Please check email for cancellation, if wet - Saturday morning.

Kind regards

Dear Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters

The Working Bee that was postponed last Saturday because of the very heavy rain overnight and early morning, will now be held this Saturday 4th June 2016.

THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE : Saturday 4th June 2016

WHERE: Lake Okareka Community Hall, off Okareka Loop Road
WHEN: from 9 am until 12 noon - there will be a Health & Safety briefing and sign in, before starting
WHAT: Planting and mulching - we hope that RLC will be able to come and remove the old existing plantings on either side of the Hall, before Saturday - and bring some mulch in - the weather this week has not been very co-operative, so far...
WHAT TO BRING: suitable clothing, rain gear (as it looks from the weather forecast that it will be wet), gardening gloves, spades, shovel, rake - and if you have one - a wheel barrow (to help shift mulch).
We will bring morning tea and drinking water for everyone.

Kind regards
