First of all many thanks to everyone who came to help at last month's Working Bee at Steep St reserve. The new gardens by the toilet block at Steep Street reserve have been planted and the trees and shrubs in the area surrounding the reserve were trimmed back, with Castlecorp team removing all of the prunings from the site. This reserve looks great.
THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE: SATURDAY 27th JULY from 9 am to 12 noon
WHAT: Infill planting approx 350 plants in the Lake Okareka Scenic Reserve area above the pump station on Loop Road.
Some plants were lost during the drought so we will be going back and doing infill planting. Plants have been supplied by Bay of Plenty Regional Council - thanks to Stephanie Bathgate our Land Management Officer with BOPRC for organising these plants. If there is enough time and plants we will also do some more infill in Tikitapu Scenic reserve area opposite Benn Road. Another area back in towards the bush has been prepared for planting.
WHAT TO BRING: Please wear suitable warm clothing (bring rain gear, just in case!) and strong footwear, gardening gloves and a planting spade if you have one - we do have a few spare spades. We will provide morning tea.
Hope to see many of you at the pump station on Okareka Loop Road from 9 am.
Kind regards
Sandra Goodwin
