After Work Working Bee Wed 25th November

26/11/2015

Hi there everyone

There will be another mid week, after work Working Bees this week. Work will again be from the DOC camp end so please park in the public car park area (not the camping sites!) of the DOC camp located at 226 Millar Road, follow the narrow sealed road into the camp and go straight ahead to the public car parking area, rather than around to the right.

WHEN:  Wednesday 25th November 2015 from 4.30/5.00 pm till around 6.00 - 6.30 pm
Wear suitable clothing, footwear & gardening gloves. Please bring a spade or shovel and a wheel barrow, if you have one. A rake would also be useful. The activity is shifting dirt "from humps to hollows". Bring some water and a snack, if you need one.

If no one is about at the car park please go up the track past the camp toilet block at the far end of the camp and follow the track to the jumping off rock, (quite a bit further on from the big log across the track) until you see where the new track turns off to the right and follow the new track until you find Brian Law and / or Mike Goodwin. Everyone is welcome.

Kind regards

Dear Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters

First of all many thanks to everyone who came to help at last month's Working Bee - tidying up the DOC camp, Millar Road. It was great to get this done - and some of you ended up with new fire wood for next winter! This Month's Working Bee will probably be the last one for Landcare Okareka volunteers for this year.

THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE:
WHEN: Saturday 27th November 2015 from 9am to 12 noon
WHERE: meeting at the Lake Okareka Loop Road sewerage pump station, quite a large area to park.

WHAT: a good tidy up of the pump station planted area, plus various tidy ups of toilet gardens, Hall gardens, and other places around the settlement

WHAT TO BRING: Please wear suitable clothing and strong footwear, gardening gloves, and bring with you - spade or garden fork, secateurs or loppers, pruning saw (if you have any of these), a wheelbarrow might also be useful. If it looks like being sunny please wear a hat and sunscreen.

We will provide morning tea for everyone and some drinking water.
We hope to see many of you on Saturday 27th November 2015.
For more information please give me a call or send me an email.

Kind regards

Lake Okareka Walking Track Mid Week Working Bees‏

Hi everyone

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who came and helped recently with the Track Working Bee alongside the people from Te Aurere Waka Ama Club. The area near the big paddle shed is now really looking tidy and ready to store more waka ama - and the walking track is now cut all the way through from Boyes beach to the DOC camp.

We would like to start mid week after work Working Bees now that day light saving is here. Work will start again from the DOC camp end so please park in the public car park area (not the camping sites!) of the DOC camp located at 226 Millar Road, follow the narrow sealed road into the camp and go straight ahead to the public car parking area, rather than around to the right.

WHEN: from this Wednesday 18th November 2015 from 4.30 / 5.00 pm till around 6.00 - 6.30 pm
Wear suitable clothing, footwear & gardening gloves. Please bring a spade or shovel and a wheel barrow, if you have one. A rake would also be useful. The activity is shifting dirt "from humps to hollows".

If no one is about go up the track past the camp toilet block at the far end of the camp and follow the track to the jumping off rock until you see where the new track turns off to the right and follow the new track until you find Brian Law and / or Mike Goodwin. Everyone is welcome.

Lake Okareka Walking Track Working Bee - 7th November

Hi there Lake Okareka Walking Track group volunteers and supporters

Thank you to everyone who came and helped with last month's Working Bee which was a joint one with the Te Aurere Waka ama Club. A lot of work did get done - but there is some more work to be done in this area to get the job completed.

This month's Working Bee is a follow up one to be held to help the Te Aurere Waka Ama group to complete clearing an area just past the Te Waiariki Purea Trust paddle shed. Rotorua District Council have given permission to clear weeds away from the area from the front of the paddle shed to the old dragon boat, to make more beach frontage for the storage of waka ama. And as the new walking track is going across the back of this area, this is another great opportunity to work together with the waka ama people to get this area cleared and ready to be used to store waka ama - and for the walking track to go in!

WHEN: Saturday 7th November 2015 from 9 am to around 12 noon
WHERE: near the Te Waiariki Purea Trust paddle shed, adjacent to Boyes beach, Millar Road, Lake Okareka. Please park in the public car park at Boyes beach reserve. The area where we will be working is over to the left of Boyes beach.
WHAT TO BRING: Please wear outdoor working clothes, strong footwear and sturdy gloves - there will be lots of prickly plants! If you have any loppers or a pruning saw they would be handy.

There will be morning tea provided!
Hope to see many of you at this working bee.

Kind regards
