Dear Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters
First of all a really big thank you to everyone who came to help with last month's Working Bee, planting in Taumaihi DOC reserve, at the end of Acacia Road. It was a really good working bee, in spite of the cold wind. All the new plants are looking really good, with some rain coming after the planting to help them to establish.
The month there is more planting and some cleaning up (leaves and ferns) to be done....
THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE: Saturday 26th July 2014
WHERE: at the entrance to the Dept of Conservation camp, near the end of the seal on Millar Road
TIME: From 9 am to 12 noon (or earlier, if we are finished!)
WHAT ARE WE DOING: Planting about 220 plants in an area near the DOC camp entrance. The plants have been provided by DOC and BOPRC. We will also be trimming and clearing plants (ferns mainly) and leaves from the right hand side of the roadway into the camp.
WHAT TO BRING: suitable clothing, wet weather gear (if it looks like rain), strong footwear, gardening gloves, planting spade, rake, yard broom and shovel. Some wheelbarrows might be useful.
We will provide morning tea things - hot water, tea, coffee, milk etc and some baking. We will also provide cold drinking water and hand washing water, soap, towel. Any questions, etc please feel free to give me a call - 362 8865 or send an email [email protected]
