Okareka Labour Weekend Working Bee

Dear Landcare Okareka volunteers

Many thanks to everyone from Landcare Okareka, Rotorua Botanical Society and Rotorua Branch of Forest & Bird, who came and helped with last month's Working Bee, planting in the Lake Tikitapu Scenic Reserve up near the Nature Walk and in the area beside the Mistletoe Walk. Thanks to Rotorua branch of Forest and Bird for the generous donation of approximately 25 Pseudopanax arboreus (five finger) plants which are the host plants for the native mistletoe, which were planted in this area.

THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE: Saturday 26th October 2013 (Labour Weekend) from 9 am to 12 noon
WHERE: Opposite the Lake Okareka Fire Station
WHAT: Pruning the trees and shrubs in the area around the bus stop on Loop Road.
We will have a hired mulching machine to mulch up the prunings. We will also bring some prunings to the mulcher from other places around the Lake Okareka settlement including the area at the walkway car park
WHAT TO BRING: sturdy footwear and suitable clothing, gardening gloves, sun hat and sunscreen - if it looks fine and sunny. Secateurs, loppers, pruning saw, and a wheel barrow and shovel or garden fork and a rake could be handy, if we have to move the mulch and spread it some where else.

We will provide drinking water and morning tea.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at this working bee - many hands make light work.

Kind regards

Sandra Goodwin
