Boat-based aquatic weed spraying within the Rotorua lakes is scheduled to commence from Monday 5 December through to Friday 16 December 2016. The following sites are programmed for treatment with the herbicide, diquat, pending suitable conditions:
- Lake Ōtakaina – Tauranganui Bay/Public Boat Ramp
- Lake Rerewhakaaitu – Homestead Arm
- Lake Rotoehu – Ōtautū Bay
- Lake Rotorua – Kawaha Point
- Lake Rotoiti – Gisborne Point
- Lake Rotoiti – Te Ruato Bay
- Lake Rotoiti – Ōkahutoroa Bay/Cherry Bay
- Lake Rotoiti – Okawa Bay
- Lake Rotoiti – Te Ti Bay
- Lake Rotoiti – Okere Inlet
- Lake Rotoiti – Otaramarae Boat Ramp
- Lake Rotoiti – Kakaho Bay
- Lake Rotoiti – Wairau Bay
- Lake Rotomā – Matahi Boat Ramp
- Lake Tarawera – Boat Shed Bay
- Lake Tarawera – Kōtukutuku Bay/The Landing
- Lake Tarawera – Stoney Point
- Lake Tarawera – Humphries Bay
- Lake Tarawera – Te Rātā Bay/Hot Water Beach
- Lake Ōkareka – Boyes Beach
