Dear Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters and to the teams from RDC, BOPRC and DOC that we work with.
Seasons Greetings to you all from Landcare Okareka Steering Committee - Chris, Mike, Brian, Rod, Elisabeth and Sandra.
We have had a wonderful year this year, with lots of planting, weed control, and rat, mustelid & possum control work as well. Thank you to everyone who has helped or assisted Landcare Okareka in any way over the past 12 months. Your efforts are most appreciated as you contribute to make this place such a wonderful environment for all of us to live, work and play.
For those of you who may not know,(and my apologies to those who do already know) at the last breakfast meeting of this year of the Rotorua Rotary Sunrise club, Mike Goodwin and I were each presented with a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow award, by club President Mike Bannister. This was a huge and unexpected honour, which we accepted on behalf of Landcare Okareka.
Mike Bannister made this presentation in recognition of over 10 years work that the volunteers of Landcare Okareka have undertaken around the Okareka settlement and lake. You can all feel justifiably proud about this achievement - you all own a part of this wonderful acknowledgement by our community and peers.
I hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing Christmas and New Year celebration - and I look forward to working with all of you again in 2015!
