Lake Okareka Walking Track Working Bee - 7th November

1/11/2015

Hi there Lake Okareka Walking Track group volunteers and supporters

Thank you to everyone who came and helped with last month's Working Bee which was a joint one with the Te Aurere Waka ama Club. A lot of work did get done - but there is some more work to be done in this area to get the job completed.

This month's Working Bee is a follow up one to be held to help the Te Aurere Waka Ama group to complete clearing an area just past the Te Waiariki Purea Trust paddle shed. Rotorua District Council have given permission to clear weeds away from the area from the front of the paddle shed to the old dragon boat, to make more beach frontage for the storage of waka ama. And as the new walking track is going across the back of this area, this is another great opportunity to work together with the waka ama people to get this area cleared and ready to be used to store waka ama - and for the walking track to go in!

WHEN: Saturday 7th November 2015 from 9 am to around 12 noon
WHERE: near the Te Waiariki Purea Trust paddle shed, adjacent to Boyes beach, Millar Road, Lake Okareka. Please park in the public car park at Boyes beach reserve. The area where we will be working is over to the left of Boyes beach.
WHAT TO BRING: Please wear outdoor working clothes, strong footwear and sturdy gloves - there will be lots of prickly plants! If you have any loppers or a pruning saw they would be handy.

There will be morning tea provided!
Hope to see many of you at this working bee.

Kind regards
Sandra Goodwin
Secretary
