First of all a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the volunteers and supporters who came to help at last month's Landcare Okareka planting in the Millar Road wetland area near Boyes beach. What an amazing morning! All of the 300 plants were in the ground within an hour!
THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE: Saturday 24th August from 9 am
WHERE?: opposite Benn Road, along Okareka Loop Road, in the Tikitapu Scenic Reserve. Health and Safety briefing and sign in at 9 am sharp.
WHAT?: PLANTING: This is a joint working bee with volunteers from Rotorua branch of Forest & Bird, Rotorua Botanical Society as well as Landcare Okareka. We will be planting trees provided by Bay of Plenty Regional Council to the Rotorua Forest & Bird Tikitapu Mistletoe Restoration Project.
WHAT TO BRING?: Please wear strong footwear, bring gardening gloves, and a planting spade, if you have one. Bring a water bottle. If it is wet please bring wet weather gear. We will still be planting!
Children are welcome to come to help, but if under 14 years old, they must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling.
We will provide morning tea. Hoping that we see a good number of volunteers, and that the weather will be fine. If you require further information please give me a call or send an email.
Kind regards
