Landcare Okareka Working Bee 25th February 2017

Dear Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters,

I hope that everyone had a relaxing and happy break over Christmas and New Year - and you have all had an opportunity to enjoy some of the lovely, sunny weather that we experienced in the Rotorua area, during January. While some of you may feel we have had an excessive amount of rain recently, it was very welcome for the plants, birds, other wildlife, the lake and people. Everything seems lovely and fresh this morning - and hopefully there are still several weeks of warm late summer / autumn days before the weather changes again!

It's time again to get back into regular Landcare Okareka Working Bees, undertaking maintenance around the reserves around the Lake Okareka settlement. Weeds or like rust - they never seem to sleep!

THIS MONTH'S WORKING BEE - SATURDAY 25th February 2017 from 9 am to 12 noon Health & Safety briefing and sign in at 9 am sharp.

WHERE: End of Acacia Road (pathway and garden) and Taumaihi peninsula reserve
WHAT: Weeding - some things can be hand weeded, others will need cutting and pasting with Round Up gel paste.
WHAT TO BRING: wear suitable clothing, sun hat and sun screen (if hot & sunny), gardening gloves or impermeable gloves (if using gel paste). Please also bring some rubbish bags (for montbretia bulbs), cutting tools - secatuers, loppers, pruning saw - any and all of these. A good idea to bring some water in a drink bottle - we will have water to top up water bottles.

We will provide all of the makings (tea, coffee, hot water, milk, food, etc) for morning tea.

Hope to see some of you at this Working Bee.

Kind regards
