Track Working Bees and Landcare Okareka Working Bee

Dear Lake Okareka Community Assn and Landcare Okareka volunteers and supporters

Thank you to those volunteers who have been coming to help with the walking track Working Bees on Tuesday afternoons / evenings. The track work is going along really well, and is getting plenty of use. Also good to see that there have been disabled people in wheel chairs using the track over the past few months, even though it is not yet completed.
The feedback from users of the walking track has been really positive and very encouraging.

WORKING BEE AFTER WORK - TUESDAY 28th March 2017
Once again tomorrow afternoon it will be laying textiles and then gravel over the top, using the tractor and trailer to cart and spread the gravel. So there is work suitable for people of all abilities and strengths.

Please park in the car park area near the Te Waiariki Purea Trust Paddle Shed adjacent to Boyes beach (there may be other vehicles with the Te Au Rere Waka Ama club - or secondary school waka ama teams - in there too, so please park considerately) and go to where the large heap of gravel is located. There is Health and Safety signing in to do.

Please wear suitable clothing and strong closed toes foot wear. If it is hot and sunny, please wear a sun hat and put on some sunscreen - or if it looks like rain, please bring/wear your rain gear. Bring gardening gloves, a shovel and a rake (if you have them). Please also bring a drink and a snack (morning tea will be provided on Saturday morning). We will have a water container available to top up your water bottles.

Even though Daylight Savings end on this coming Sunday, please continue to mark Tuesday afternoons in your diary as Working Bee afternoons for the Lake Okareka Community Walking Track, until further notice.

SATURDAY 1st April 2017 Track Working Bee along with a Landcare Okareka Working Bee from 9 am to 12 noon
If any one is available to help with the Walking Track Working Bee (textiles and gravel laying) or Landcare Okareka Walking Bee along the new track (cutting and pasting weeds) this coming Saturday 1st April 2017, your assistance would be most appreciated.

All the same instructions re parking and what to bring with you as above. For doing weed control work, some loppers or secateurs would be useful.

For further information please email sgoodwin@actrix.co.nz or phone 07 362 8865.
Kind regards
Sandra Goodwin
