Working Bee Walking Track Sat 5th September‏

31/8/2015

Hello there Lake Okareka Walking Track supporters and volunteers

Another Working Bee is planned for the Lake Okareka Walking Track and will again be at Boyes beach end of the new track.
Brian Law, Mark McKenna and Mike Goodwin have carried out many hours of work recently,(a huge thank you to each of these 3 men!) and the really high gorse on the Boyes beach side of the main wetland, has been removed. They have also undertaken a lot of work benching the track on the DOC camp side. If you haven't been to have a look at the track for a while - or this is your first time - you are in for a big surprise!
The work this time should not be quite so difficult as it has been the last couple of months - and let's hope for a fine day - the last few have been quite wet!

WHEN: Saturday 5th September 2015 from 9 am to about 12 noon
WHERE: Please park in the public car park at Boyes beach. Walk across the Boyes beach reserve towards the beach area in front of the waka ama paddle shed. Look out for Mike Goodwin and Brian Law who will show you where you will be working.

WHAT TO BRING: Suitable warm clothing (raincoat and leggings, if it looks like rain), strong footwear, good strong gloves - will be cutting back some prickly plants like gorse and blackberry and other weeds - tools - spade, loppers or heavy duty secateurs, pruning saw, rake - if you have one or any of these they will be useful. Bring a drink and a snack for your morning tea.

Any questions or for more information please contact Mike or myself - sgoodwin@actrix.co.nz or phone (07) 362 8865

Kind regards

Sandra Goodwin
