Kia ora everyone

On behalf of Landcare Okareka Steering Committee I would just like to say thank you to each and everyone of you who came to help yesterday with the planting in the wetland area at Boyes beach and Millar Road.

There was a huge group of people who came to help and if you know of some that you may have invited could you also please pass on our thanks to them as well.

We got over 1600 plants into the ground before lunchtime and we had time for a great morning tea! Thank you to Toni, Elli and Jenny along with Gregg and Susan Brown who all helped with providing morning tea - and lunch - for the volunteers!

Kia ora everyone

First of all many thanks to everyone who came and helped at last month's Landcare Okareka planting along the Millar Road stream bank. This month we have more planting to do in the cleared area of the wetland adjacent to Boyes beach. This is a very special planting project as it is part of the scientific work that Scion is carrying out for the government's 1 Billion Tree Project. Thank you to Gregg Brown's "Tipu Wai Tree Trust" for providing these plants.

WHEN: Saturday 25th July 2020 from 9 am. We will begin with a Health and Safety and planting protocol briefing near the recreation shed.

WHERE: Boyes Beach Wetland. PLEASE park in the Boyes beach car park and walk across to the Te Waiariki Purea Trust recreation shed, and then along the walking track to the sign that indicates where the planting will take place. We ask that volunteers PLEASE DO NOT park on Millar Road. Leave the road way clear for plant delivery.

WHAT TO BRING: Please wear suitable clothing, strong foot wear or gumboots, gardening gloves, water bottle. Bring wet weather gear. We will provide morning tea and a sausage sizzle.
Come along to learn more about the work that Scion is doing, and help with this important project.
